what we do

Wasp Nest Removal

Wasp nests can pop up just about anywhere, and can present a real problem when they do.  Common places for wasp nests to be found include places where there may be easy access points for the wasps, such as the attic, garden shed, garages, verandas, barns or in the roofs of factories.

Protect yourself from the nuisance of wasp nests by contacting Tracker Pest Control, Essex.  We are available 7 days a week for wasp nest removal in both domestic and commercial properties.

For more information on this service, and other services we provide, contact us on 07562108883.

Identifying a Wasp Nest

Wasps use places with small holes which can act as entrances for their nest, for example in roofs, trees, air-bricks; or they can also build a nest attached to a building or structure.  If uncertain, the large quantity of flying insects leaving and entering the nest will alert you to its presence.

When to control a wasp nest:

During the early summer months, wasps begin to appear when they spend most of their time catching prey and actually building their nests.  This is when they spend most of the day foraging and flying, returning to the nest later.  The wasp nest may not pose a problem to you at this point, but removal is still offered as a service by Tracker Pest Control.

You may not necessarily consider wasps as pests during these months, however – as the weather heats up – wasp nests can grow substantially.  By September, the small golf-ball-sized wasp nest in your home may have grown to be over a metre squared in size.  A nest of this size can be home to over 10,000 wasps.

Controlling a wasp nest of this size requires a professional exterminator immediately, and a can of wasp killer is not considered suitable for this level of wasp control.

It is absolutely essential that a wasp nest entrance is not blocked by any means, as this will both agitate the wasps (causing them to act defensively and sting), and cause the wasps to find an alternative entrance/exit by chewing through materials.

It is advisable to contact Tracker Pest Control about the most appropriate and safe way to proceed.

Safe Wasp Nest Removal

Bait traps and screening to prevent foraging wasps exist as methods of wasp control, and Tracker Pest Control can offer expert advice on these.  However, we do recommend that neutralising the wasp nest is the best method for wasp removal.

Tracker Pest Control uses a variety of methods for neutralising a wasp nest.  The preferred methods are as follows:

  • Dusting: insecticidal powder is applied around and into the entrance of the nest. Returning wasps then drag the insecticide deep into the colony. The wasp nest usually ceases to be active within 24 hours of treatment.  A highly effective treatment.
  • Surface spraying: Liquid insecticide is sprayed directly inside a nest, or generously sprayed around it as necessary.

Tracker Pest Control will advise on the most appropriate treatment for the client’s circumstances.  Tracker Pest Control will guarantee that the most effective method is used, whilst ensuring that any friendly species – that also may be present in the same area as the nest – are protected.
